How to Block a Lost\Stolen Mobile Phone
Users have several methods available to block their phone’s IMEI through the CEIR portal:
- Online Form Submission: Users can fill out a form on the CEIR website to report their stolen phone. The steps to follow include keeping a copy of the police report, obtaining a replacement SIM card from their telecom service provider (like Airtel, Jio, Voda/Idea, BSNL, MTNL, etc.), and entering the new SIM number when requesting IMEI blockage. Reissued SIMs become fully operational for sending and receiving SMS messages after 24 hours of activation, as per TRAI regulations. Users should also gather necessary documents such as identification, a copy of the police report, and the mobile purchase invoice. The IMEI blocking registration form can be accessed on the website.
- Request ID: After submitting the form, users will receive a Request ID. This ID can be used for future IMEI unblocking requests and to monitor the progress of the request.
